The These Berghosen are identical to the M36 Mountain Trousers, but were produced in field gray wool instead of stone gray. The first field gray trousers began to show up around the time of the invasion of France, but it was some time before field gray became the dominant color due to the large stockpiles of the existing stone gray trousers. As was true of the earlier style, these trousers were issued to Gebirgsjäger, Jäger, and Skijäger troops. There were several pattern variations and our pattern was taken from a pair owned by one of the leading Gebirgsjäger collectors in the US. This style has no seat reinforcement and unflapped pockets. There is a sewn-in crease on the front of the trousers and the lower legs are sharply tapered, with side slit and leather belts on each ankle. Hooks on the belts allow the trouser ends to be hooked to the mountain boots.
The photo at left shows the M40 style mountain trousers in field gray. Roll your mouse over the photo for the back view. We also offer the M36 mountain trousers in stone gray.
