M44 USMC HBT Camouflage Cap

This herringbone twill cotton cap was the distinctive headgear of the US Marine Corps from 1944 to 1954. Very similar to the M41 HBT cover on which it was based, the main changes to the M44 model were the longer visor, which automatically curved when worn, and the "Globe & Anchor" insignia on the front of the crown. Our reproduction M44 has proven to be extremely popular with Marine veterans of WWII and Korea. Some buy it alone and others as part of the full 1941 Marine HBT uniform. It has the correct early-style "skeletonized" insignia, and comes in a salty shade of sage green HBT. This cap was copied from original WWII covers and not the late '50's style that other companies offer. As such it has neither the stiffened front crown nor the stitchline holding the front three crown panels erect. This is the type issued prior to 1955. During WWII it was typically worn in a crushed fashion, cocked over one eye as shown in the photo at right. Remember, Old Corps Marines never wore their headgear squared away!

Important
Some uniforms will exhibit color shifts between the cover, blouse, or trousers due to different dye lots. We will match your set as closely as possible, but we cannot guarantee that all your uniform items were cut from the same roll of fabric.
