These are made to the same design patterns as the Type 1 leather sole service shoe, but with the addition of a rubber sole (known as an "outside tap") and rubber heel. The addition of the rubber made this shoe more durable than its predecessor. Initially, this shoe was confined to the USA, but it eventually was worn overseas. The shoe is russet colored with a toe-cap.
