M1942 Camouflage Helmet Cover, "Type 2" (Tarnüberzug)

(Oak-A is the only camo available!)

Please note that the inks used to print the camouflage on the fabric ARE NOT colorfasted. This was done on purpose for the sake of accuracy. Colorfasted inks were introduced in 1955 and did not exsist during the Second World War. This means that the first time the garment gets wet, the colors will start to run, JUST LIKE THE ORIGINALS. Over time, the colors will start to fade and mute. There are plenty of photos out there of original smocks, helmet covers and Zeltbahns, all of which confirm this fact. An unissued camouflage garment will have crisp, clean, vibrant camoflague. The more the garment is used, the more muted and indistinct the camouflage becomes. Like everything we sell here at Lost Battalions, these reproductions mimic the originals in ALL details.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BELOW!
Washing Instructions for Camouflage
We recommend not washing these garments at all because it's more authentic. Also, you must realize that you are trying to wash a garment that was originally NEVER ment to be washed in the first place. But if you must wash your garment, it is important for you to know that our camouflage fabric is treated with Teflon water repellant which common household laundry detergents and dryer heat will destroy. They will survive, but they will shrink and fade. But the safest way reduce the risk of shrinking and fading when washing is to first allow any dirt to dry, then brush it off. Hand wash the garment in the sink with cold water and little or no light detergent (Woolite). Then hang dry in a room with moving air (This will not allow any mold or mildew to grow). Because of the nature of this garment, shrinking and fading IS inevitable, but this method of washing will minimize the damage drastically.

IF YOU WASH THEM ANY OTHER WAY, YOU WILL DESTROY THEM AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE!
