| SS 1943 Tropical Field Blouse
This jacket is currently out of production. Please read here about the proper fit of the jacket. Himmler thought the first SS tropical jacket looked to much like the Army's tropical uniform, so the designers came up with the addition of a shoulder yoke modeled on the Spanish and Italian Sahariana desert jackets. The first jackets produced in early 1943 had pocket pleats, but these were dropped later in the year. As with the 1942 tropical jacket, the 43 pattern had a four button front with no provision for neck closure. However, the position of the top button was moved downward about 2 inches to allow for more lapel turnback. The removable buttons were brown painted, standard 19mm pebbled types held on by the removeable "S" toggles found on all German "cotton" uniform jackets of the period. Aside from the yoke, the unique features that set the 1942 SS tropical jacket apart from those of other services are present in the later jacket: no central back seam, no back vent, no belt hook hangers or eyelets, double field dressing pockets in the skirts, tie tapes in the waist and four vent eyelets under each arm. As with all original German uniforms, the color of these suits varied, ranging from a bright sand yellow to a dark mustard, but quite a few examples stray into the darker ochre shades found in some Luftwaffe khakibraun pieces. A likely theory is that some of the same contractors supplied tropicals to both the Luftwaffe and the Waffen-SS. The Lost Battalions 1943 pattern Waffen-SS tropical jacket is a completely faithful reproduction of the original right down to the removeable buttons and lives up to our reputation for making the very best, most detailed reproduction German uniforms. These jackets are made of cotton twill and are prewashed and preshrunk. A word about our fabric. This item is proudly made in Dallas, Texas Price $245 Shoulder straps are $15 with Purchase of jacket.
