This cap was the first change to headgear during the war. It was introduced to replace the Panzer beret/helmet which had proven to be less than optimal for off-duty wear when the black Panzer uniform began to be used for almost all occasions. It also had the advantage of working with headphones better than the beret. The cap is identical to the standard M34 field cap with the exception of color, which is Panzer black, naturally enough. Pink soutache is the norm on this cap, but it can be specially ordered with golden yellow or copper brown soutache for recon/cavalry, or with no soutache.
